Each year, with the help of RERC, the Russian community in Victoria organises a commemorative picnic to celebrate Victory Day: the date when Allied Forces overcame all odds to secure victory in the Second World War. Each year, in May, Russians, their families and friends, all come together and join veterans in Caulfield Park for a unique commemorative event. Period Russian traditions are brought to life, while veterans are honoured for their sacrifiсes. Features of the event include:

• Historic field kitchen serving traditional wartime Russian food
• Wartime re-enactments and period costume
• Revivals of wartime traditions, including traditional song and dance
• Immortal Regiment march commemoration for veterans’ families
• Vodka toast for war veterans in honour of their sacrifices
• Victory Day Ride from the Shrine of Remembrance by the Night Wolves Motorcycle Club

The Victory Day celebration is a unique opportunity for Russian veterans to share their history with families and friends, the Russian community, and others more. Few occasions have more meaning for Russians than the memory of the sacrifices during the Second World War. It is a solemn day of remembrance for the fallen, but a worthy commemoration of their sacrifices and great accomplishment.
