St. Vladimir’s Ball

Russian balls in Australia have been held for many years and are one of the most significant events for representatives of the Russian community. This holiday of beauty, grace, grace and music unites the Russian-speaking population of Victoria and is carried out for maintaining continuity of traditions of national culture.

The first ball was held in 1991. It was dedicated to the day of the Equal-to-the-Apostles Grand Duke Vladimir, and since then these balls have been named after St. Vladimir.

Despite the fact that each new ball is sustained in a unique concept reflecting certain events in the life of society, the event is always  luxurious and grandiose.

St.Vladimir Ball is composed of an exquisite setting, ladies in beautiful long dresses, gallant cavaliers in tuxedos, fun, dancing and courage. A luxurious dinner is always served for guests and an official program is prepared that reveals the cultural aspects of the evening. Community leaders give speeches, honored awards are given. The preparation of the Ball requires significant costs – funds, time, effort, intelligence. However, the matter is worth it! The ball really reflects all the best that the local Russian community and their friends have to offer.

Recently, St. Vladimir’s Ball has been dedicated to the following themes:

2012 – War and Peace

2013 – Tsar Ball

2014 – Jubilee Jazz

2015 – Nostalgia

While it is not always possible to hold St. Vladimir’s Ball every year, we endeavour to maintain this great tradition because of Russians’ pride in their culture and their eagerness to showcase it to their community, other ethnic communities, and the Australian public in general.
