Aged Care Transport Services

The aim of the Aged Care Transport Services is to help you get around your business, whether you need to go grocery shopping or see a doctor.

We understand that it is not always possible to get quickly, conveniently and safely by taxi or public transport and we offer a reliable and convenient alternative.

What can I get help with?

Have your Russian-speaking care worker drive you in their vehicle: 

    • with this service, our care worker will come to your home and take you to the appointment, to the store, to the hairdresser, and after you finish, they will bring you home
    • Our care workers can also help you pack up, get in your car, deliver groceries, or translate things that you may not understand.

Travel independently using taxi vouchers:

    • With this service, we will give you a card or cards that will contain money that you can spend on taxi services
    • This service is suitable for those who do not need assistance during the trip

Service planning

Transport service with a care worker:

    • Travel bookings should only be made through our office. You can call your coordinator and ask for this service
    • Service cancellations must be made 24 hours’ in advance during business hours, Monday to Friday
    • A single service must be booked in advance, however, we cannot guarantee the availability of free employees in case of insufficient time to organize the service
    • Service cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance

How do I get this support?

To receive government-funded service you will need to have a referral from My Aged Care.

After you have been assessed by My Aged Care and have chosen Russian Ethnic Representative Council of Victoria (RERC/Russian Aged Care) as your provider our Russian-speaking Client Services Coordinator will be in touch to arrange a home visit. During this home visit, you can tell us what help around the house you need, and your preferences on time and career.

How much does it cost?

If you are eligible for Commonwealth Home Support Program, most of the cost will be covered by the government. Our client manager will discuss the cost of the service and all the details with you during an initial consultation.
