Melbourne Russian Festival – Program Release

With a few days left till the inaugural Melbourne Russian Festival, we are happy to release  the program of the festival. On 21 April, one of the most iconic places of Melbourne – Tom’s block (Kings Domain), will be turned into a traditional Russian village for a sensational day of delicious food, stunning performances, unique masterclasses, football games, concluded with an open-air Russian moonlight cinema.

The festival comes to life at 10.30 am when the performances kick off on the central stage. The stage will be filled with cheerful music and stunning performances that will make you want to dance. So, don’t be shy, you are welcome to join the dancers and learn some traditional steps. The concert will be consisted of 3 parts:

Children’s Concert: 10:30 – 11:50

The festival will be open with stunning performances of our young participants: Zabava Folk Group, Solovushki Childrens Vocal Group, Inspiration, Solovushki Children’s Vocal Group, Unicorns Children’s Character Dance Studio, Lira Children’s’ Choir and YATI.

Official Opening – 12.00 – 12.30 

Main Concert: 12:30 – 3:00pm 

Second part of the festival will feature performances and engaging activities. Don’t miss out to join us in the traditional Russian dances:
RUS’ Russian Dance Ensemble, Slavyanki Vocal Group, Kalinka Dance Company, Souvenir Dance Company, RUS’ Russian Dance Ensemble, Nadia Filianovskaya, Rousichi Russian Dance Ensemble, Soudarushka Dance Company, Carousel, Jeff Nikitin and Mikhail Raskin Duet, Zabava.

Friends of the Russian Community: 3:00 – 5:00pm

We would like to welcome the friends of the Russian Community to the stage, featuring their national performances:
Morava Serbian Dance Ensemble, Morava Orchestra, KUD Abrasevic Melbourne, Folklor Group Sumadija, Valia Bulgarian Singer, Horo Bulgarian Folk Dance Group, Folklor Group Sumadija.


To heighten your experience and plunge right into the heart of the Russian culture, we encourage you to take part in one of our amazing masterclasses, featuring some of the well-known traditional folk crafts, many of which are centuries old and cannot be found elsewhere.

In addition, the Foundation is preparing a charity raffle for all guests at the festival.

Ticket Prices: 1 ticket- $5 or 3 for $10.

All funds received from the lottery, master classes, Russian hair braids and face painting will be transferred to the recipients of the Little Cloud Foundation, including victims of Kemerovo blaze.

Moonlight Cinema

Our Festival will be concluded with the Russian moonlight cinema, and we are thrilled to announce that we will be screening one of the most anticipated movies of 2017 – “Bolshoy” – a story about a talented ballerina who sacrifices everything to dance at the Bolshoy Theatre. Free entry. The movie starts at 6.10pm, in Russian language with English subtitles.

Food Stalls and Beer Gardens

Russian cuisine has its own unique character thanks to the vast and multi-ethnic expanse of Russia. Take your time and be ready for a delicious journey through the Russian food heritage.
Our festival will also feature two Beer Gardens. Ideal place for catching up with friends over the iconic beverages, such as Zhigulevskoye beer, Lvivskoe beer and Nemiroff vodka.

We are also very thrilled to have an amazing crew of musicians who will be performing at the Beer Gardens from 1:30 pm till 7:00 pm. Don’t miss them out:  Lana Djandjgava and Michael Frolov, Galina Lazareva, Natalia Bolotova, Ana Staisy, Manouche, Polina Lagutina, Carousel, Trali-Vali, 32 of May, Bosoy Fason, Lestniza, Zazemlenie.

Art and Craft

Visit our Art and Craft stalls to have a look and buy some of the Russian iconic souvenirs, hand-made Russian jewellery, ecobeauty products, books in Russian and English or traditional Russian shawls. Our talented exhibitors will showcase a wide range of original handmade artwork and craft in many categories.

Football Friendlies

2018 is year of the World Cup in Russia. We decided to organise a set of friendly football matches among the fans from the countries that will be going to Russia in June. We plan to have the following teams: Australia, Russia, France, Spain. Each team will play 2 matches and the games will take place between noon and 3pm.
